We are delighted to have been announced as finalists for two prestigious industry awards.
Our Mote Park cafe, visitor centre and estates services building project has been shortlisted for the 'Community Engagement' Award - Mote Park is located in the heart of Maidstone and offers leisure facilities for thousands of visitors each day. The scheme is deemed to be a flagship project for both the Park and MBC and forms part of the larger regeneration works within Maidstone town centre.
From the offset, we worked with both our client MBC and the local community to design and build a multi-use facility that would not only provide a functional purpose, but encourage both new and returning visitors to the park.
It was important to both us and our client, that the local community and businesses were involved across all spectrums of the project.
The recently completed humanities building at Skinner's School has been shortlisted for 'Project of the Year - up to £10m - Located adjacent to teaching blocks which date from between 1887 to 2012, the new humanities building is in keeping in style, yet features state-of-the-art technologies.
BBS Construction was awarded this project which includes the strip-out and demolition of the former gymnasium building currently being used as a sixth form area. In its place is the construction of a stunning new three storey Humanities Building, including associated below ground drainage and external works.
The building offers a new sixth form centre, new English classrooms, new general teaching classrooms and a new library. Within the building, the Sixth Form Centre and WCs are located at lower ground floor level, with classrooms, WCs and office space at upper ground floor level, and a library, conference room, classroom and accessible toilet at first floor level.
The new building allows the size of the sixth form to be significantly increased and offers better facilities, including a new area for computers and workstations.
Winners will be announced for each category during a Gala Dinner event mid November - until then, we are keeping everything crossed...
