Built adjacent to the main school building and adjoining an existing teaching block, the works comprised of the construction of a new reinforced concrete and steel framed four storey building attached to the existing three storey science centre with circulation links through.
The new teaching block was constructed on traditional foundations with a reinforced waterproof concrete retaining wall to the lower ground floor level of the new building. It has glazed/masonry elevations and flat roofs, and accommodates a new 6th form centre together with a new science laboratory, food technology room and associated prep rooms. The works include all associated external works and drainage.
Key Project Details
"The bespoke Sixth Form building, The Lang Centre, where many Sixth Form subjects are taught and where students have their common room and study spaces, is a place where students have greater independence, a space where lessons are more akin to university tutorials and a place which students run and manage."
